The Oshawa Rotary Club is currently partnering with the Prince Arthur Rotary Club of Thunder Bay on a book project for northern Ontario.  The first four boxes of books were turned over to Krysta Logozzo of the Port Arthur Club on November 24 by Gordon Dowsley of the Oshawa Club who had taken them on a recent trip north.  The proposed arrangement is for Rotarians and friends from the Oshawa area to transport the books to Thunder Bay and the Port Arthur club will distribute them in the north.

Currently the Thunder Bay Rotarians are working on a strategy and selecting the target communities.  The possibilities include isolated aboriginal villages only reachable by plane, communities along the highways and inner city schools with special needs.

Books are gathered from a variety of sources in Durham.  When this trial program so completed, it is estimated that at least 1000 books a year could head to deserving recipients in the north.
