Members of the Lovell family present a cheque to Durham Region Hospice for $100K through the S. E. Lovell Family Foundation!
The funds are to be shared between Whitby and Clarington locations. This donation will help to create one of the resident rooms in each of the two hospice residences.
The Lovell family is well known throughout Durham Region for their philanthropy initiated by Stanley E. Lovell, Diana Kirk, Arthur Lovell and Linda McGill’s father. Mr. Lovell’s passion for giving back to the community has been passed on to the next generation and many charities have benefitted from their generosity.

“This is a wonderful donation and we are very thankful to the Lovell family for helping us to make our hospice residence “dream” a reality,” said Eva Reti, Chair of the Board of Whitby Hospice.
Melodie Zarzeczny, Chair of the Board of Clarington Hospice added, “Our communities continue to be very supportive of this important need in Durham Region. We are extremely grateful.”
With this donation the two hospice residences are taking another step closer to being able to go to tender for construction. The current plan will see shovels in the ground later this year with the hospice residences becoming a reality 12 to 14 months later.
