Speaker – Bob Jarvis Whitby Sunrise Rotary
Clive Waugh introduced our guest speaker Bob Jarvis.
Starting in 1998 Bob started various projects in the Dominican Republic. Following the hurricane that year he assisted with clearing out of fallen trees. In 2010 they brought a young child to Canada to have surgery on his legs due to brittle bones. Two others have had assistance since.
Bob has been involved in many Rotary projects including building latrines, a house for 12 senior men, building a school, installation of water filters and installation of electricity through solar panels.
Bob’s wife Margaret has also assisted in a clothing project, a food program and a program to distribute sanitary napkin packages to young females so they no longer have to miss going to school.
Both Bob and Margaret fell well rewarded for their work in the Dominican by the people they have assisted and seeing the smiles on their faces.
Abb Gilbert thanked our guest speaker.
